There is also a small area for little kids. These are fast, very fun, and there is usually only a short line. And behind the wave pool are 4 sled tubes, where you lay stomach-first on a blue mat and race around a tube and then shoot down a drop. You can do a double raft or a single in either of these. There are two raft tubes beside this that often have longer lines, but they are fun. This can be packed, but usually it’s not too bad. I think the waves come every 5 minutes or so. It’s usually pretty full of people just standing there, though. This is best if you like deep water and a little turbulence to swim in. There is the wave pool, which is large and goes to about 5 feet deep, though that fluctuates when the waves are going of course. It’s also the most thrilling ride by far. Not many people want to do that so you can easily find a few times a day where you could do this over and over without waiting for more than 1 person in line or even giving up your raft to the next person in line because there is no line. The line for is kept short by the fact that you have to carry these big rafts up the stairs, and they’re a bit heavy and bulky. Behind that is the tornado, the big funnel tube slide for 2-4 people. Next to it is a nice sized area for small kids. The inside has a large play tower designed for children but it’s not off limits for adults, and it’s worth at least checking out even if not your thing. We didn’t consider this a black mark, just a tip. There is more to do with us you don’t have to worry about sunburn. The outside has just 2 water slides which aren’t anything special, a kiddie area with a small sort of lazy river (no tubes or water flow, but a vague circular shape) m, and a large pool area which is mostly shallow (less than 4 feet). This was partially due to poor weather (most of the time it was below 70 and raining, so outside was either closed or unappealing), but we all agreed if it had been perfect weather we still wouldn’t have gone out probably at all. We stayed 3 nights and only spent an hour outside. There is nothing wrong with the outside, but it’s not worth altering plans to make it available like we did. This time we wanted to experience the outside attractions so we came in July. We all (family of 4 parents in their 40s, boy 7, girl 11) really enjoyed our time here in pretty much all aspects. There is no shortage of things to do in the area: explore popular parks such as Wisconsin Deer Park and Timbavati Wildlife Park. While staying in Wisconsin Dells, you can check out a popular diner like BJ's Restaurant, which is serving up some great dishes. Given the close proximity to Big Chief Go Karts (2.7 mi), guests of Great Wolf Hotel can easily experience one of Wisconsin Dells' most popular landmarks. For travellers arriving by car, free parking is available. Guests of Great Wolf Lodge Wisconsin are also welcome to enjoy a pool and a poolside bar, located on site. If Holiday Inn Express can have insanely more comfortable beds and bedding, then what's GWL's excuse?ĭon't bother coming here unless you have kids who really want to go and there's a serious coupon/Groupon for your stay. If they had a designated bar/tavern area for adults to relax while the kids were at the pool, I'd maybe rate this place a little higher. Restaurant was insane - beers were very funky/dirty taplines and all good seemed to just be fried/reheated from frozen and sold at a ridiculous mark-up. Staying in the room was the best experience - water park was just not fun, more or less anywhere comfortable for adults to sit (maybe their outdoor park is better?). Decided to go during a random mid-week in February and it was still busy here. We booked a hot tub suite here for a couple's retreat since I had some credits to use up.
